We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team on the Dorothea Chemotherapy Unit. Chemotherapy experience is desirable but not essential.
You will have a strong commitment to excellence in patient care and a high level of communication skills, as you act as the interface between patients and other healthcare professionals.

Main Duties of the Job
* Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for a specified group of patients.
* Takes charge of the Day Unit as delegated by the Lead Chemotherapy Nurse for a specified period of time.
* Act as a Team Leader, delegating appropriate tasks and supervising the standard of care delivered by more junior qualified staff, unqualified staff, and learner nurses in the team.
* Assist the Lead Chemotherapy Nurses in the management of preceptorship of newly qualified staff, return to nursing staff, and the mentorship of nursing students and health care support workers.
* Responsible for the administration of cytotoxic chemotherapy.

Person Specification
Experience & Knowledge
* Minimum of 2 years Band 5 experience
* Working with Oncology/Haematology patients
* Advanced communication skills
* N59 or equivalent
Qualifications and Professional Training
* RGN
* Willing to work towards a post grad qualification in the speciality
Skills and Abilities
* IV administration
* Enthusiastic, motivated, and able to motivate and instil confidence in others
* Ability to have positive working relationships
* Good health record
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to work under pressure
* Evidence-based practice
* Cannulation & venepuncture
* Frequently able to deal with patients and relatives during distressing situations.
