Electrical Systems Manager - Cross Cutting
£57,600 to £75,600 + Excellent benefits
Derby or Warrington / Hybrid
We are Rolls-Royce SMR and we're doing something that's never been done before. We're revolutionising an industry. This is more than just a job; this is a legacy.
We are now recruiting for an Electrical Systems Manager to be involved in delivering an industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of nuclear power station.
What we're looking for:
Provide technical leadership and expertise across the lifecycle of Electrical Systems for the SMR nuclear power plant. As the Electrical Systems Manager for the Cross Cutting team, you'll develop and manage a team of electrical engineers, setting the work plan on a number of cross cutting topics. The teams scope includes work on topics such as cable system design, electrical modularisation, standardisation, electrical layout, systems engineering and management of the electrical load schedule as well as a number of other areas. This covers the delivery of the complete design of the identified systems, spanning system architecture, sub-system design and equipment specification and design/selection to realise the final verified design of the power station. You'll need to develop relationships with and work closely with the engineering teams from across the power station and apply a structured systems engineering approach to design. The role involves working across the whole lifecycle of Electrical systems both classified for nuclear safety applications as well as non-classified.
Key Criteria:
1. Proven experience in electrical power engineering in a design function, with experience in the design of modular HV and LV distribution systems and cable systems.
2. A proven record of managing the work of electrical or multi-discipline designers is required for the role.
3. Demonstration of technically reviewing and approving design outputs from other discipline engineers would be an advantage.
4. Knowledge in using electrical design packages to perform electrical system analysis and develop cable system design is desirable, with practical experience a further advantage.
5. Experience with developing electrical requirements to support HV and LV electrical architecture.
6. Knowledge and experience in associated codes and standards, including an awareness of codes and standards for electrical components such as switchgear, transformers, and cabling is desirable.
7. Previous experience working within the nuclear industry is not essential; a proven record of working across the electrical system lifecycle is required. Experience working in a design role in a regulated industry (e.g., Nuclear, Defence, Aerospace, Rail, Automotive, Oil & Gas) would be advantageous.
Qualifications Requirement:
Ideally you will hold a degree level qualification in electrical engineering or a related subject.
Pay and Benefits:
We anticipate paying a salary between £57,600 to £75,600 plus:
1. Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%
2. Benefits Allowance - £2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package
3. Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
4. Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
5. Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
6. Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
7. £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
