Overview:
The Flavour Network is excited to be partnering with a leading pet food business to assist in finding a skilled Maintenance Engineer with a Mechanical Bias to join their rapidly growing team. As the company expands with new equipment and automation, they need a dynamic Maintenance Engineer to ensure the smooth operation of all plant machinery. In this role, you'll be responsible for performing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on all production machinery and equipment. You'll also troubleshoot, repair, and find creative solutions to optimise machinery for enhanced product creation.

Responsibilities for the Maintenance Engineer
1. Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on production machinery to ensure optimal operation and minimise downtime.
2. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control issues on production lines to enhance efficiency.
3. Collaborate with production teams to quickly identify and address any equipment-related issues.
4. Maintain and optimise various systems, including conveyors, packaging machines, mixers, and other processing equipment.
5. Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery, ensuring smooth integration into production lines.
6. Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, including PPM schedules and repair logs.
7. Drive initiatives to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance overall production efficiency.
8. Suggest and implement upgrades or modifications to equipment that can reduce costs or improve process efficiency.
9. Modify existing machinery to improve quality, throughput, and operational performance.
10. Provide insights into machinery performance and recommend necessary improvements or modifications.
11. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations within the manufacturing environment.
12. Mentor and support junior members of the maintenance team, sharing expertise and fostering development.
Requirements for the Maintenance Engineer
Essential:
1. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
2. Additional qualifications in electronics, automation, or related fields would be advantageous.
3. Significant experience in maintenance engineering within a food manufacturing or FMCG setting.
4. Solid mechanical and electrical expertise relevant to food production operations.
5. Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex machinery and equipment issues efficiently.
6. In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and regulations, including HACCP, BRC, etc.
7. Strong understanding of health and safety protocols in food manufacturing environments.
8. Excellent problem-solving abilities with the capacity to work under pressure and meet tight production deadlines.
9. Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload effectively.
Desirable:
1. Experience with electronics and automation, including knowledge of PLC systems and automated production lines.
2. Familiarity with SCADA systems and HMI (Human Machine Interface).
3. Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
4. Ability to interpret and work with technical drawings and schematics.
5. Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
