Job summary An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Breast Practitioner to work within the brand new Unified Breast Unit In YYF. The new unit is a state of the art breast unit, allowing patients with breast disease and conditions to be treated within a multi disciplinary team, caring for patients from diagnosis and throughout treatment. Under the guidance and supervision of the CNS's in Breast Care you will facilitate and support Care delivery, communication and co-ordination, information and education and holistic needs assessment. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. Main duties of the job Be responsible for supporting the work of the Breast Care Nurse Specialist Service and to provide a point of contact for patients, carers, members of the multi-disciplinary team and allied health professionals. A key aspect of the role involves daily and direct (e.g., face to face and telephone) communication with patients, relatives, carers, and other health and social care professionals. The information and nature of the communication required is sensitive due to the nature of breast cancer. Communication in this context requires a high degree of empathy, understanding, diplomacy, honesty and integrity The post holder point will act as a point of contact for the service and will liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team on various organisational aspect of patients care. Provide general information and support about breast cancer and cancer services, to enable patients and carers to navigate the health and social care system and make choices that are best for their cancer and their life.
