Occupational Therapist - CAMHS Eating Disorders Team
South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust
Is CAMHS your passion? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.
Hi, my name is Karl Senior and I'm the Team Manager for the Wakefield CAMHS Eating Disorder Team!
We're looking to recruit a band 5 community occupational therapist to join our team. We're a specialist eating disorders team working with children and young people (CYP). The team is made up of OTs, mental health practitioners, psychiatrists, children's nurses, dieticians, and social workers.
We are looking for a qualified (or soon to be qualified) Occupational Therapist with an interest in CYP mental health to join our team. You will work with CYP and their families providing 1:1 intervention to promote occupation and functioning. You'll also have the opportunity to facilitate groups.
Experience within children and young persons services would be advantageous but isn't essential as we welcome occupational therapists who want to begin working in this specialty.
You should be able to demonstrate mental health skills and knowledge.
The team is based between Airedale Health Centre in Castleford and Drury Lane Health Centre in Wakefield, therefore you will be required to demonstrate a flexible approach to travel as part of this role.
We would strongly encourage and welcome candidates to call for any further information needed.
Main duties of the job
As part of the role, you'll support the MDT assessment of young people presenting with eating difficulties. You'll hold a caseload within which you will deliver evidence-informed care to assist the young person and family through recovery.
The successful candidates will develop good working relationships with key professionals across the district; therefore excellent communication and engagement skills are essential. A commitment to improving service delivery & developing new ways of supporting children, young people & families' experiences is crucial to work within the wider CAMHS team. In return, we will provide a comprehensive induction programme, regular clinical & management supervision.
The service operates Monday-Friday; 9am-5pm and we pride ourselves on offering flexible working patterns where needed. Being a car driver is essential due to the potential distance required to travel when completing home/clinic visits.
Applicants must have excellent clinical skills, confidence, and enthusiasm for working with CYP partner agencies in networks that extend beyond traditional specialist mental health boundaries.
I would love to give the opportunity for further discussion surrounding the role, so please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Visits to the team are welcomed and strongly encouraged!
At the time of advertising, this role does meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK. We look forward to receiving your application.
