About BikePark Wales
BikePark Wales is the UK’s number one mountain bike facility located at Merthyr Tydfil on the edge of the Brecon Beacons national park just 25 minutes north of central Cardiff. The park is now an internationally recognised destination and a mecca for mountain bikers, descending on Mynydd Gethin, a 491-metre summit.
BikePark Wales is a young, successful business which is growing fast. The current offering includes over 40 world class mountain bike trails, a vehicular uplift service, café, bike shop, bike hire, coaching and events but an ambitious development plan is now underway to improve the existing services and add new products to the existing site.
The role
We are seeking an energetic, responsible, and organised individual to join our team as an Uplift & Retail Assistant. While your primary focus will be in the Uplift department, you’ll also assist Retail and other departments as needed. As the first point of contact for visitors, you will play a key role in providing exceptional customer service and efficiently managing the uplift queue.
You will have a passion for, previous experience with, and great understanding of, what a quality visitor experience is and will consistently deliver our customer service vision. Reliability and adaptability are vital for this role, as are excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills. You will support and encourage strong team working across all departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Uplift Assistant:
1. Greet visitors and provide information about the uplift process, safety guidelines, and park facilities.
2. Help and guide customers when loading bikes onto the trailers and assist drivers in checking the security of the load.
3. Manage the queue efficiently, ensuring smooth flow and minimizing wait times.
4. Coordinate with the Drivers to ensure timely loading and unloading of bikes onto the uplift vehicles.
5. Assist with timings and data collection.
6. Enforce park rules and safety regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
Retail Assistant:
1. Contribute to the daily retail services, including handling customer queries, issues and complaints.
2. Maintain high standards of store provision and appearance, meeting brand guidelines of BikePark Wales partners/suppliers.
3. Act as an approachable source of information for customers wishing to make a purchase of either bike or related goods, including discussing the merits of different products.
4. Responsible for stocking shelves with merchandise, ensuring products have accurate price tags attached.
5. Maintain a suitable level of industry knowledge and developments leading to presentation of promotional ideas and concepts leading to improved sales.
6. Monitor shop floor sales trends and popular stock items, and maintain shop floor tidiness, cleanliness and appearance, including hoovering and dusting.
General team duties:
1. Adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and respond positively to new and alternative systems.
2. Co-operate with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post.
3. Carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post in compliance with the Company’s equal opportunities policies.
4. Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
5. Understand and comply with the Company’s environmental policies.
6. Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibilities of the post.
Minimum Requirements:
1. A keen interest in MTB and BikePark Wales.
2. Previous experience in customer service, hospitality or retail roles preferred.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail.
5. An understanding of Mountain Biking equipment and brands, preferably including some technical and mechanical experience.
6. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
7. Basic computer skills and familiarity with EPOS & booking systems/software.
8. Ability to communicate in the Welsh language.
9. Enhanced DBS certificate.
