Role Responsibility Treetops Short breaks Unit offers overnight short breaks for children in Kent from the age of 5 to 18 years old, who have learning disabilities and/or Autism, and will have some additional support needs. These may include health related needs, behaviours of concern, and help with everyday tasks. We always support children to have fun with their friends and peers, to learn skills, make choices, and to be supported in a safe and nurturing environment, so that they, and their families, can have a break. You will be required to work on an ‘as and when required’ basis, dependent on the needs of the unit. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, be able to work as part of a busy team providing a high standard of care for the children and young people that we support, work with own initiative as well as with guidance. Working at a fast pace, always ensuring the child/ young person’s needs are kept paramount. To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who has: To follow care plans whilst keeping them updated To be able to create factual reports. To be willing to undertake training and put theory to practice. To undertake personal care for the children/young people. Proactive approach to own learning. To communicate in an open honest manner To organise and deliver new opportunities of recreational and social experiences for children and young people. Awareness of the Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015 To have or willing to complete the Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare. This post is based in a children’s unit and therefore is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
