We are looking for Centre Assistant at our Thameside Nature Discovery Centre in Stanford-Le-Hope, near Thurrock.
Opened by Sir David Attenborough in 2013, our Thameside Nature Discovery Park is located on top of the former Mucking Marshes Landfill in Thurrock and is a recovering, post-industrial, unique landscape that is impressive and juxtaposed in nature. The former landfill site is being given back to nature to recover. It is a local nature asset but is rapidly becoming a significant ecological, recreational, and educational asset to the Thames Estuary region. The reserve is home to many species including barn owls, short eared owls, water voles, harvest mouse, skylark, cuckoo and shrill carder bee in addition to local cattle that graze the grassland during the year.
Working as part of the visitor centre team, the post holder will need to be a team player who can engage in a welcoming and professional way with our visitors both in retail and food and beverage - ensuring excellent customer service is always at the forefront. The success applicant will be using the till, preparing and serving hot and cold refreshments, clearing tables, restocking retail stock and engaging with customers and promoting memberships.
We are looking for a friendly individual with an interest in customer service to join Essex Wildlife Trust in this visitor engagement role. Profits from the Nature Discovery Centre’s are used to fund the conservation, educational and other work key of the Trust.
This role is a fixed term part time position working 22.5 hours per week on a rota-basis between Monday and Sunday (operating hours are between 9:00am to 5:00pm). For further information about our Thameside site, please visit
