Job Title: Brain Injury Support Worker

A full-time position available for a professional and dedicated Brain Injury Support Worker to assist an active young man with a TBI to live independently. 12-hour shifts. £17.00 - £19.00 Gross per Hour.

Wage/Salary: £17.00 Weekdays, £19.00 Weekends, £11.44 sleeping rate / £159.52+ per sleeping shift. Gross per Hour
Driver Essential? Preferable
Essential: Brain Injury experience and working within a home environment. Travel on holidays and short breaks in the UK and abroad.
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: 38 hours on average per week. Shift times: 8.00am - 8.00pm, 8.00pm - 8.00am (sleeping shift 10.00pm - 6.00am). Shorter shifts for 2:1 care depending on activities throughout the day.
Accommodation: Support Staff bedroom and bathroom for use on duty.
About this client: Axel is a remarkable young man who has made significant progress in his rehabilitation following a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). He is living independently with the assistance of his support team in Ilford. Axel has complex care needs, including cognitive and mobility impairment and epilepsy (he has not had a seizure for 12 months). He requires 1:1 assistance 24/7 and 2:1 support when out and about, as he can find it difficult at times to control his impulsivity. At home, Axel uses a gutter frame and has recently started walking short distances unaided, using his wheelchair in the community.
Overview of role: Axel leads a busy life with planned activities such as cycling, attending charity events, gym sessions, and social outings. The Brain Injury Support Worker will assist Axel with all his Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), rehabilitation program, and support him in leading an independent life. The role involves night care, but Axel generally sleeps well and only requires one check-in each night. The rota is provided 4 weeks in advance and includes a mixture of days, nights, and weekends.
