We are looking for an enthusiastic, astute, driven individual with strong communication skills and excellent commercial awareness, keen to make the next step into a business development role within a professional services organisation. Joining us on a fixed term contract of 12 months – the role will ideally suit someone from a hospitality, marketing, public relations, business development or sales background. The successful candidate will be highly organised and able to evidence experience of managing multiple tasks within a fast-paced environment. You must be able to communicate confidently with colleagues and peers, take on responsibility and accountability for your actions and have the drive to develop the role into your own. The role will be based out of our Cardiff office with occasional days working from home. Given the nature of the position there will be a regular requirement to organise and attend breakfast events – together with evening functions from time to time. Prior legal or professional services experience isn't essential; we are looking for someone who is keen to challenge and develop themselves, with a flair for thinking outside of the box and bringing new ideas to the table. What can you expect ? The successful applicant will be reporting to and supporting an experienced Business Development Manager to craft and develop our proposition and products for businesses throughout the regions - with some national reach. Working alongside colleagues in Marketing and Business Development you will be part of our team that helps build Blake Morgan's presence throughout the Wales, South Coast, Thames Valley and South Central areas. In order to be effective in the role you will need to build a good working rapport with partners throughout the firm (we have an excellent and approachable partner group) and understand their individual specialisms and target marketplaces. Key Duties Business Development support – undertaking research and providing company and industry/sector information in support of formal tenders and bids, supporting the collation and production of high quality materials including credentials documents, proposal documents and sector brochures. Project/campaign management – planning and executing small campaigns e.g. gathering data, updating the CRM system, client and target research, coordinating the production and mailing of marketing materials and the necessary follow-up, including telephone calls and/or delivery of an event. Events project management – working with the business development and marketing teams to ensure the smooth delivery of business and hospitality events including the coordination of the events process, supporting content and delivery of invitation mailings, preparing delegate materials and online surveys, and handling post-event follow up and administration. Business Development administration – undertaking related administrative tasks including the co-ordination of meetings, digital filing, dealing with invoices, preparing and distributing progress and executive reports, minutes from meetings and monitoring/chasing lawyers in relation to action points. About you You will have around two years’ experience of working in a Hospitality, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Development or Sales department; professional services experience is preferred but not essential. Your other competencies will include: Strong attention to detail and deadlines. Experience of developing and maintaining client facing marketing materials. Excellent communication skills that can be applied both internally and externally including experience of liaising with external suppliers/ customers. Strong event and project management skills. Excellent IT skills, especially within Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media. Knowledge/experience of working with CRM systems will be an advantage.
