An opportunity has arisen within Sunderland City Council for the role of Building Officer within Property Services reporting to the Repairs and Maintenance Manager.
The proposed hours of the role are 37 hours per week across 5 days Monday to Friday, plus optional out of hours duty manager rota supporting our out of hours service delivery.andnbsp;This is a full-time permanent position.
As part of the Property Services repairs and maintenance team you will be responsible to co-ordinate, programme and manage all construction repairs in conjunction with Work Schedulers, Operational colleagues and the Repairs and Maintenance Manager. This role will include the delivery of repairs and maintenance to our council housing stock as well as refurbishment projects to a range of customers both commercial and domestic.andnbsp; The ability to work as part a team is essential as this role involves not only working within the Technical and Operational Team but also with other colleagues across the Local Authority and partnering organisations.
Reporting to the Repairs and Maintenance Manager you will be leading a direct workforce who will undertake repairs and maintenance operations and you will be responsible for the management of the team, projects and schemes across the portfolio.
You will ensure the provision of construction repairs and maintenance is to agreed contracts, health and safety requirements, quality, performance and technical standards and that the service meets all relevant legislation and regulations along with full compliance with all relevant council policies and procedures.

The successful applicant will be educated to an ONC/HNC level or equivalent in a construction related activity and have a proven track record of delivering a reactive maintenance function.
Applicants must understand and ensure the service complies with the statutory and industry requirements for building and construction work including the Building Regulations, CDM Regulations and Planning andamp; Consent Processes.
