Mears provides temporary accommodation to asylum seekers whilst their claim is being assessed in three regions: Northeast, Yorkshire and Humber, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. At the end of May 2021 Mears had over 19000 service users across the three regions. Mears works in partnership with central and local Government, home office, registered providers, tenants, landlords and investors to find solutions to homelessness, provide more social and affordable housing and create specialist housing for people with care needs.
About the Role:
Due to a contract expansion and recent acquisition wins, we are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team.
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor within Mears, you will be working alongside a local team assisting the Commercial & General Manager with commercial control & reporting on high standard Commercial activities to Housing properties, delivering best in class commercial acumen, customer service and satisfying all safety, quality, and cost control standards.
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor within our Durham and Darlington branch, your main duties will involve communicating with our surveyors, compliance team, contract managers, and supervisors. You will liaise with subcontractors ensuring all work is put through internal systems and payments received. Involvement includes responsive maintenance, voids, electrical testing, gas repairs, and general building work. This will involve cost versus value reconciliation, including usage of the national federation of schedule of rates, pricing schedules provided by building surveyors, reviewing purchase orders, and the day-to-day monitoring of working progress utilizing our internal MCM / MSP systems.
