EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Working within our forward-thinking Waste Water Recycling department covering the West region (Powys, Shropshire, Staffordshire & West Midlands), the role will be to safely operate and maintain a diverse range of equipment at Sewage Treatment works/Sewage Pumping Stations as an Operational Technician (Mechanical Support). Being part of a small team, we are looking for an operative with drive and determination that would like to develop their skills mechanically and assist with a skilled team of maintainers in the delivery of small installation and refurbishment projects throughout the region.
You’ll need to have a mechanical aptitude along with curiosity and problem-solving skills with drive and determination to deliver small projects and learn new skills. The role will consist of operating and carrying out the direct planned and breakdown maintenance on a wide range of assets. Basic fabrication skills along with good general knowledge of workshop practice would be desirable.
You will be based at one of our main sewage treatment works depending on home location, but will mainly start from home straight to site working throughout the local geographical area.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake standby duties on a rota basis. Any additional technical training required will also be covered and great working hours too (Monday - Thursday 7.30am-3.30pm and Friday 7.30am-3pm).
Some Of Your Other Key Accountabilities Will Include
* Operating independently and managing own workload along with working within the team to support the maintainers in the refurbishment of sewage treatment works and sewage pumping stations.
* Identifying issues and problem-solving solutions.
* Accountable for the operational performance of waste recycling assets in line with our regulatory requirements.
* Onsite process sampling and laboratory analysis.
* Site energy efficiency and optimisation plan to further benefit the business and environment. (Carbon pledge).
* Comply on site health & safety regulations.
* Undertake standby and call out duties when required (out of hours/lone working).
* Knowledge, understanding and delivery of our management systems.

What You’ll Bring To The Role
Having experience in Waste Water Treatment or Sludge Treatment process knowledge would be very welcome but it’s not essential.
A full UK driving licence would be essential. Having the willingness to learn and obtain new qualifications and skills (NVQ 2 mechanical and progressing to 3 for the right candidate) would be beneficial. Furthermore, having experience in adapting to a changing environment is desirable.
