Headteacher – SEN School (Bristol)

Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum (depending on experience) + performance-related bonus
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational and dynamic Headteacher to lead a brand-new Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Bristol. This is a unique chance to shape the vision, ethos, and development of a school committed to delivering outstanding education and care for children with complex needs.
About the Role
The Headteacher will provide strategic leadership and ensure high standards of education, safeguarding, and wellbeing for all students. Working closely with the governing body and senior leadership team, the successful candidate will create an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
1. Establish and lead the school, setting a clear vision and high expectations.
2. Recruit and develop a skilled and dedicated team.
3. Ensure a high-quality, tailored curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
4. Drive excellence in teaching and learning, using innovative and evidence-based approaches.
5. Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding and wellbeing.
6. Develop strong partnerships with parents, the local community, and external agencies.
7. Oversee the operational and financial management of the school.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
1. Proven experience as a senior leader in an SEN or inclusive educational setting.
2. A strong understanding of SEND legislation, best practices, and curriculum development.
3. A track record of improving student outcomes and leading school improvement.
4. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
5. A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
6. The ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to drive the school’s success.
