We are a unique and modern day-hospital CAMHS service based in Wokingham looking for a band 6 Nurse to join us on either a full or part time basis.
Our serviceprovides interventions for young people with complex mental health issues requiring tier-4 level care, but who benefit from a more flexible, community-based approach.
In this role you will work with young people who use our service during the day as well as doing outreach visits and offering home support to patients and their families. This gives you a rare opportunity to develop skills in both inpatient and community at the same time.
As an innovative CAMHS service we strongly support the development of our clinicians and can offer you both internal and external training whist giving you the opportunity in the role to make a real difference in the lives of our patients.
The service operates Monday to Friday 08:00 – 20:00 and 09:00 – 17:00 at weekends and you will work on a rota basis doing averagely one weekend per month.
Main duties of the job
1. Providing care to patients with a variety of mental health issues.
2. Planning, and implementing holistic care plans.
3. Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
4. Developing relationships with other professionals, patients and their families/carers.
5. Planning interventions, ensuring that clinical policies and procedures are followed correctly, and risks are minimised.
6. Supporting young people with eating disorders via therapeutic meal support.
7. Providing clinical supervision to a small number of junior staff or student nurses.
8. Ensuring services are delivered in the area of specialism that meets quality and clinical effectiveness standards.
9. Complying with all national, statutory, legislative, professional and local policy.
10. Role modelling the highest standards of behaviour in relation to health and safety at work, cooperating to ensure that statutory and departmental safety regulations are adhered to.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The “must haves” for this role:
24. Be a qualified Mental Health or Paediatric registered Nurse
25. Previous experience working with people with mental health conditions
26. Demonstrable leadership experience
27. Full UK driving license and access to vehicle

Education/Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
28. Registered Nurse
29. Evidence of post-registration development
30. To be able to demonstrate ongoing professional development.
Desirable criteria
31. Additional post-qualification training equivalent to a minimum of 50 hours supervision within a specific modality directly related to clinical practice including case presentations, group supervision, attendance of teaching programmes, courses etc.
32. A supervisory qualification in the relevant professional discipline
33. Practice Assessor course completion, or equivalent
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
34. Six months post qualifying experience.
35. To be able to plan individual work and make use of supervision in relation to your work.
Desirable criteria
36. Experience of supervising junior staff
37. Experience of working within a mental health setting with young people and their families.
38. Experience in working with young people with emotional regulation difficulties, in an eating disorders or crisis home treatment service
39. To have had experience of working with parents / carers and families and to be able to verbalise your approach.
40. To have had experience of working in groups with adolescents and to be able to describe the approach. To be able to plan a group in collaboration with others.
41. To have had experience of working individually with a young person and to be able to describe your approach.
