An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Wigan GP Alliance team to support the services in the Wigan Borough completing sessions for vaccinations, MMR, cytology, and long-term condition reviews.
Your role would involve practice nurse roles and responsibilities, long-term condition reviews, immunisations, health checks, investigations & follow up.
Main duties of the job
* Work independently and contribute to audits, implementing and evaluating local quality standards, policies, guidelines, and care pathways.
* Conduct clinical patient consultations at surgeries or health centres.
* Undertake clinical examinations and diagnostics investigations including venepuncture, BMs, and urinalysis.
* Provide supportive advice regarding contraception.
* Treat wounds and provide emergency first aid.
* Apply and remove dressings and undertake C&S specimens if required of the wound site.
* Provide advice, education, and information regarding chronic health conditions and disease, smoking cessation, weight management, including BMI assessment, and supportive referrals to other agencies including Drug & Alcohol team, Mental Health team, and other agencies who can support patients' care and lifestyle choices.
* Undertake observations, pulse, temperature, B/P, SpO2, skin and foot assessment.
* Administer immunisations.
* Conduct well woman and man clinics and specialist clinics for diabetes and asthma.
* Delegate tasks to healthcare assistants.
* Complete accurate records of patients' consultations during the clinical session.
* Assist GPs with minor procedures if required.
The working patterns are sessions based at our practice, from 6.30 pm up to 10 pm Monday to Friday, Weekend sessions 10 am-4 pm, & the opportunity for other ad hoc sessions.
About us
We are a Primary Care provider within the Borough of Wigan supporting general Practice delivering Enhanced and Extended Access services during evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays. The sessions could be LTC reviews, immunisations, cytology, diagnostics for those patients that need to access Primary Care but cannot do so during regular core hours.
To be accepted onto our Bank Nurses need not be proficient in all elements as mixed and single skill set sessions can be offered.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NMC registered.
* Degree level.
* Currently practicing in a Primary Care setting.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Cytology trained.
* Diagnostic testing trained - i.e., phlebotomy.
* LTC review trained.
