The role
As a Senior Electrical and Controls Designer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This opportunity is for an experienced Electrical and Controls Engineer/Designer to have the ability to work with a high level of developed knowledge in a specialist subject area.
Day-to-day, you’ll work on a range of engineering problems involving high levels of complexity and uncertainty. Your responsibilities will encompass leading the entire lifecycle of the project, from conceptualisation to design, manufacture, test, and ultimately delivery. With a particular emphasis on logic controls and programmable logic controllers,you will drive the design and construction of equipment while overseeing junior team members to ensure adherence to standards and project schedules.
1. Manage the delivery of engineering and technical activities, through the application of process, electrical and electronic engineering knowledge, and experience
2. Accountable for designs, developments and determines solutions to problems and issues within a specialist subject area.
3. Provide support and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working, and their development.
4. Test and prove electrical designs directly through hands-on activities in our electrical laboratories
5. Functional testing of manufactured control systems
6. Attend project and customer meetings to discuss updates, risks etc.
This role is full time 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 a balance of days in the office/onsite and 3 days that can be worked ing from home to meet the business needs.
Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential experience of the Senior Electrical and Controls Designer
7. Experience working collaboratively in multi-discipline teams to deliver activities on a range of project types.
8. Demonstrable experience in covering a variety of tasks across a range of complexities
9. Good communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines
10. Ability to apply standards; and knowledge of legal directives that designs must comply with
11. Experience with ATEX and equipment used in Hazardous Areas (desirable)
12. Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical for generating and checking electrical circuit diagrams (desirable)
13. Experience of Document Management Systems - ideally Teamcenter and Vault (desirable)
Qualifications for the Senior Electrical and Controls Designer
14. Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline, with significant demonstrable experience
