Financial Controller Esholt, West Yorkshire, BD17 7RT Competitive Salary Due to continued growth within our Finance team, we are now looking for an experienced full time Financial Controller for 5 days / 40 hours per week (9am – 5:30pm; 3 days in the office, 2 working from home). As our Financial Controller, you will be a key player in the continued growth of Bayfield Opticians. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing financial operations of the business. This includes leading a team of 6 finance professionals, with 3 direct reports, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial information and analysis to drive strategic decision-making and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports including management accounts, profit and loss, balance sheets, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis. Present monthly and quarterly financial results to senior leadership, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities. Manage the year-end financial closing process, including audit preparation and liaising with auditors to ensure compliance and transparency. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6 finance professionals, ensuring performance, growth, and alignment with business objectives. Supervise and directly manage 3 key members of the finance team, providing coaching, training, and support to ensure a high level of accuracy and efficiency. Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, working closely with the senior management team to align financial targets with business goals. Provide strategic financial analysis, including identifying cost-saving opportunities, improving margins, and supporting decision-making across the business. Develop and maintain robust internal controls and processes to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks. Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure the business maintains adequate cash reserves. Oversee banking relationships and implement efficient systems for managing payments, receipts, and financial transactions. Play an active role in the financial due diligence and integration of potential acquisitions as part of Bayfield Opticians' growth strategy. To be successful in this role, you will have your ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualifications. You will have proven experience as a Financial Controller or within a similar role, with a track record of managing finance teams and working with senior management. You must have an in-depth understanding of financial systems and reporting tools with strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of presenting complex financial information in an accessible manner to non-financial stakeholders and with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
