Overview
Working as part of the operations team at our Longbridge facility, a technician in the control department focuses on the testing, routine maintenance, and preparation of control equipment, including but not limited to control consoles, networking equipment such as switches, servers, and nodes, as well as our extensive inventory of smoke, haze, low fog, and other visual effects assets.

Technical Knowledge & Expertise
* An understanding of lighting control systems, including consoles, dimmers, and networking equipment.
Job Description
* Familiarity with DMX, RDM, sACN, Art-Net, and other lighting protocols.
* Experience with major lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA, ETC Eos, Avolites, ChamSys).
* Knowledge of power distribution and safe electrical practices.
* Ability to diagnose and repair faulty control equipment (basic electronics and wiring skills).
Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting
* Ability to diagnose technical faults in control systems quickly and efficiently.
* Experience in software and firmware updates for lighting consoles and networking devices.
* Attention to detail when inspecting and preparing equipment.
Communication & Customer Service
* Ability to explain technical issues to colleagues in a clear and professional manner and work pro-actively with line management to overcome challenges.
* Team player who can work closely with warehouse staff, project managers, and colleagues.
Organization & Time Management
* Ability to manage multiple projects and rental orders at once.
* Efficient workflow management, ensuring equipment is prepped and ready on time.
Adaptability & Industry Awareness
* Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to industry trends.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment.
* Awareness of health and safety regulations related to electrical and lighting equipment.
Responsibilities
Equipment Preparation & Maintenance
* Prepare and test lighting control desks, dimmers, and networking equipment after rental and to the business’s preparation standards
* Perform regular maintenance, including software updates, firmware checks, and basic repairs.
* Troubleshoot faulty equipment and diagnose issues before and after hire.
* Undertake first line repairs to control equipment or prepare service reports for second line repairs to be carried out.
* To maintain a safe and clean workspace and wider departmental area adhering to the businesses outlined standards.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
* Provide technical assistance to colleagues, offering guidance on console features, and software.
* Support troubleshooting requests from colleagues regarding control equipment.
* Stay up to date with the latest lighting control technologies and software advancements.
* Communicate workload issues early for example if deadlines are an issue.
Inventory & Documentation
* Maintain an up-to-date inventory of control equipment, ensuring accurate stock levels.
* Document all repairs, maintenance, and firmware updates for company records.
* Ensure equipment is returned in the correct condition and report damages or missing parts.
