Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated band 5 Community Staff Nurse to join our friendly and supportive community nursing teams in Grange, Windermere & Ambleside District Nurses. This is a 30 hour post, over 4 days per week, and will require working across both teams, Windermere & Ambleside District Nurses and Grange District Nurses.
The successful candidate will demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for holistic patient-centered delivery of care within the community, focusing on personal and professional development. You will work as part of a dynamic team that values staff health and wellbeing while providing high-standard care to our community. The role offers the opportunity to develop a wide range of clinical skills and knowledge relating to the increasing complexity of care delivered within the community, including wound, pressure ulcer, and end-of-life care.
Main duties of the job
The role requires excellent communication skills as you will be undertaking complex nursing assessments and developing and delivering programmes of care for patients and carers. The district nurses work a 24-hour service, and there is an expectation that you may be required to support this to ensure service delivery.
You will work collaboratively with other professionals, the voluntary sector, and informal carers to promote excellent care to patients in their own homes and community settings.
You will be joining an enthusiastic and motivated team that is friendly and approachable. We are very patient-focused, and staff development is high on our agenda. As part of our team, we aim to develop all staff to the highest standard.
You will need a full UK driver’s license and access to a car in order to fulfil this role.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, GP Practices, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care, including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase, and inpatient surgery. Additionally, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals, and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health, and manage their conditions through high-quality care, advice, and support.
