JOB TITLE: Technical Lab Technician
RESPONSIBLE TO: Technical Manager/Technical Quality Lead
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the preparation of all products prior to handover for packaging. Maintenance of all raw ingredient stocks.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Wear company supplied PPE.
2. Offload all base liquid tankers - may be dependent on the physical capabilities of the Technician.
3. Perform analytical testing of tankers and other bulk liquid materials.
4. Ensure packaging lines are serviced with products as required - may be dependent on the physical capabilities of the Technician.
5. Conduct fill height checks on all bottling lines.
6. Perform analytical testing of in-process products.
7. Conduct analytical & microbiological testing of finished products.
8. Perform microbiological preparation work.
9. Calibrate laboratory and factory equipment on a daily basis.
10. Conduct in-process packaging checks on all products.
11. Perform random torque and CO2 checks throughout the shift.
12. Check paperwork on in-process and finished products throughout the shift.
13. Conduct final pack packaging checks.
14. Inform the Technical Manager/Technical Quality Lead of any out of specification results.
15. Ensure correct recording of actions within the IFS stock inventory system.
16. Complete all documentation legibly and correctly.
17. Scan/attach documentation to IFS as appropriate.
18. Ensure all tanks and pipe work are cleaned following the correct procedures and correctly documented.
19. Inform Material Stock Controller/Technical Manager/Technical Quality Lead immediately of any shortages of materials.
20. Keep the work area and laboratory clean & tidy. Follow the glass breakage procedure immediately for any breakages that may occur.
21. Carry out Monthly Glass and Plastic Audits.
22. Report any faulty or broken equipment to the Technical Manager/Technical Quality Lead.
23. Ensure a correct shift handover takes place with other Technicians.
24. Provide holiday cover for other Technicians when necessary.
25. Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by the Technical Manager/Technical Quality Lead.
26. Carry out all duties in a safe and sensible manner, adhering to all Health & Safety standards.
27. Support in the training and development of new starters, apprentices, and graduates as required.
28. Contribute to the development of procedures/work instructions and continuous improvement activities.
This is not an exhaustive list but merely an overview of the main duties involved.
Full training will be given.
Key Skills & Experience:
1. Highly organised with good prioritisation skills and IT literate.
2. QA or technical experience within a factory environment.
3. Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail.
4. Willingness and ability to be flexible.
