Job title: Hygiene Supervisor

Full time/permanent
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 DOE
Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm or 7:00am – 3:00pm
Main Responsibilities
To maintain, implement and deliver the quality standards related to GFSI standard with the focus on sanitation, taking into account all requirements around food safety, Allergen, customer, religious and sustainability standards in the plant. Driving the maintenance and improvements of BC standard for Sanitation & Waste.
To develop the role and team to achieve improved quality standards whilst respecting and promoting Food safety and people safety standards all the while living our Values.
Act as the interface between the production, Health & Safety, HR, project engineering, maintenance and quality teams
To manage and organise the team so that the plan for the area in terms of sanitation requirements are fulfilled. To manage the health and safety of the team members and ensure all aspects of food safety are adhered to
Manage all day to day people issues including sickness management, discipline and grievance matters as required
Follow up corrective actions and verify effectiveness of implemented measures within the scope of sanitation
Provide the supply of chemicals, cleaning tools necessary to operate which are in line with Quality & Food Safety Regulations
Participate in customer and third party audits, execute external audits to approve services in his focus area
Ensure correct stock control and availability of necessary equipment
Deliver training modules to ensure cleaning department and CAYGO for Operational colleagues remains up to date with the latest legislative and practical technologies and solutions
Implement and manage cleaning programs (procedures, work instructions) for production environment inclusive hygiene junctions and non-operations areas like offices
Participate in internal audits related to HACCP, food safety, sustainability and quality management system
To plan in with the Hygiene Manager works around the PPM schedule
To help identify areas that require high level cleaning and plan in with the team
To advise the Production Supervisors of any equipment, supplies or personnel issues which require their intervention
Report any health and safety or food safety or environmental hazards found in the factory to the relevant managers
Ensure effective communication exists across the teams and leadership
To help identify training gaps within the team
To ensure that the current paperwork system is completed for tasks that have been completed
To cover the manager's role during periods of absence and holiday
To assist with the transfer of the paperwork system to a new electronic system and the maintenance going forward
Supporting other functions to achieve compliance with the above mentioned standards by supporting the establishment of cleaning programs for equipment, to provide the necessary means to implement the program and support production people in charge of cleaning activities and verification activities with documentation and individual developmentEducation, Language, Skills & Qualifications
Is a competent Hygiene Operator with a sound understanding of GMP & Hygiene issues
3+ years of experience in Hygiene and Food Safety in an international food, pharmaceutical company
High level platform licence for working at height
Confined space capability or ability to be trained
Effective communicator - both verbal and written
Ability to detect and solve problems effectively
Ability to use initiative/is a self-starter
Food Safety for Manufacturing Level 2 qualification (Can be trained out)
Operational knowledge of safe working practices and food safety requirements
Awareness of HACCP requirements
Understanding of COSHH - safe use, PPE requirements and correct Use & Application of chemicals
Has proven ability to lead and manage team of people
