These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone. We are looking for a Senior Data Insights Manager to join our team. Where in Wellcome will I be working? You will be leading the d ata insights team within Data and Digital reporting to the Associate Director, Data and Digital. The seventeen strong data insights team is a mix of data analysts, data visualisation specialists and product managers of varying seniority. They work closely with Machine Learning Engineers, Software Engineers, Product Designers and User researchers t o build data products and provide the analysis and insight that drives decision-making in the organisation. What will I be doing? There are two key elements to the role which are of equal importance. Firstly, managing and developing the technical skills, career development and pastoral care of the data practitioners as well as ensuring we continue to hire. Secondly, continuing to do data work, working with stakeholders, doing analysis, developing insights and actions for the organisation. As a Senior Data Insights Manager, you will: L ead and deploy a Data Insights team to answer strategic questions and synthesise meaningful insights and recommendations to enable data-informed decision-making across teams, Executive and Governors Maintain the capabilities, standards, systems and processes needed for the team to undertake high quality, robust analysis and evaluation (in house or via outsourcing) and for knowledge exchange and learning to take place Focus on increasing engagement and use of data within Wellcome by improving data literacy, building relevant tools and ensuring there is extensive communication and understanding of analysis and work undertaken by the team Lead a strong Data Insights team t hat util ises a wide range of analysis and synthesis techniques in a manner that is replicable, avoiding one time or unrepeatable analysis whenever possible Manage data product managers to ensure that W ellcome’s data problems are turned into easily understood, easy to use products (tools, models, dashboards, datasets, infrastructure) Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments. You’ll have experience in both quantitative and qualitative analysis and enjoy working with a wide variety of data sources and collection methods, including social research. Experience managing and developing a matrixed team to create a community of practice where innovation, learning and improvement thrives Experience analysing multiple complex forms of data to generate strategic insight at an organisational level. Expert understanding of data governance and how it works in relation to other organisational governance structures. Experience of communicating monitoring and evaluation findings and promoting use of evidence to inform programmatic and portfolio decisions.
