To provide care for inpatients on Acorn and Oak wards under the supervision of the ST 4-8 grade registrar and consultant on service. Including attending ward rounds, note keeping, arranging investigations and collating results. * To clerk, investigate and treat emergency and day case referrals on the Paediatric Assessment Unit under supervision of the registrar and consultant on service. * To attend outpatient clinics. * To participate fully in the departmental teaching and training programme. * To become familiar with local clinical policies, guidelines and protocols. * To be aware of and comply with the Trust's policies and procedures relating to Clinical Governance and Health & Safety at Work. * To provide cover for colleagues in their absence. To deal with emergencies flexibly, as the occasion demands. * To provide neonatal care to infants on Somerset Neonatal Unit and postnatal wards under supervision of specialist registrars and neonatal consultants. Including attending ward rounds, note keeping, performing practical procedures, arranging investigations and collating results. * To perform first day checks on the postnatal wards. * To attend newborn deliveries where a paediatrician is required. * To admit sick and premature newborns to the unit and initiate their management under supervision.
