Job summary
We would like to offer an opportunity to join our critical care practice educator's team, working 30hrs a week as a clinical practice educator within ITU.
This post is open to a motivated, dynamic and committed individual who is experienced in critical care nursing. You will need to be an excellent role model, hold a relevant post-registration qualification in critical care with substantial ITU experience, and are able to demonstrate a passion for teaching and supporting others in the art and practice of critical care nursing.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work in ITU Prince Philip and Glangwili General Hospitals.
This role will include the provision of staff induction programmes, mandatory updates, training on equipment and processes, support innovation into practice and work with staff clinically supporting the attainment of Adult Critical Care Step 1, 2 & 3 competencies.
They will support staff with portfolio maintenance and provide an effective ITU environment for learning and growth.
The successful candidate will be fully supported by the practice educator's team who value education as part of the philosophy of critical care nursing. It will offer an exciting opportunity for personal growth and development supporting career advancement in ITU.

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential
* Registered Nurse
* Degree Level Education
* Evidence of post-registration study in Critical Care nursing to diploma level or equivalent
* Up to date knowledge of Local and National agendas
* Knowledge of implementing change
* Able to apply Local and National policies to practice
* Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding
* Up to date with best practice guidelines
* Evidence of research based practice and development
Desirable
* Post graduate teaching qualification (PGCE)
* Evidence of further professional development
* Working towards MSc (Level 7)
* Evidence of a recognised management course
* Leadership course
* IQT Silver
* Knowledge of appropriate legislation and government guidance
* Knowledge of service delivery systems in health care
Experience
Essential
* Substantial post-registration experience in Critical Care at Band 6 and/or experience in ITU shift coordination in the absence of a Band 6/7 sister/charge nurse
* Proven high standard of nursing care
* Evidence of involvement in Quality Improvement
* Evidence of involvement in both formal and informal teaching and clinical skills development within Critical Care
