At Swindon Borough Council, we want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision in the new Swindon Plan is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Because that’s who we’re doing it for – the communities and businesses that make our town great. As part of the Council, you’ll support a friendly local authority making decisions with real impact. It’s all for better public services. Better processes. And a better quality of life, for everyone. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.
If you are organised and self-motivated, strive for improving performance, and take pride in your work, then this is the job for you! As our Voids Co-ordinator in Housing Management, you’ll work as part of a team to ensure this happens.
Your next role
We have a high demand for social housing in Swindon, and it is important we re-let our homes to our re-let standard as soon as possible so that our customers are not waiting unnecessarily for a home.
We take pride in what we do and ensure that our empty homes in Swindon are turned around as quickly as possible through inspections, raising works, and regularly monitoring performance data and providing management reporting.
This role involves working as part of the Voids & Lettings Team as well as individually using your own initiative. Included in the role will be contact with our contractors, suppliers, and customers over the phone and by email, collecting and recording information for the use of the whole team.
You will have an eye for detail as you will be checking information in line with our processes and procedures and will have good data entry skills. You will be customer-focused and understand that your work significantly impacts our customers.
In addition, you will need a genuine enthusiasm for customer service, attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and pride in your work. You will need to be able to prioritise your workload and have the drive to meet our performance targets, being comfortable working under pressure and adapting to change in a fast-paced working environment.
Applicants will need good I.T skills including Excel, with experience of working in a team and preferably in a customer environment.
Of course, we don’t expect you to know the role inside and out, which is why we train and develop our staff to build the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to help our customers accordingly.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
The ability to travel throughout the Borough will be required, and working days can be discussed at interview.
As an employee, you will receive a diverse and exciting environment in which to work, encouraging creativity and innovation whilst recognising the need to support ongoing personal development and a flexible work-life balance.
For Swindon to thrive in the future, we need to lay the foundations now. It’s why our regeneration and transformation programmes are already underway. You’ll be joining us at an exciting time on our journey. We’ll look to you to share your knowledge, influence decisions, and drive real, positive change. With your contributions, we’ll achieve our vision of a prosperous, revitalised Swindon together. And you’ll be proud to say it was made better with you.
