Location: Field Based with attendance at Liskeard office when required Role Purpose: Possessing a keen eye for detail that will always facilitate a quality output, the Build Assurance engineer role forms a critical foundation to our FTTP network roll-out. Quality focused and driven to improve the business and our suppliers, the individual will be responsible for low-level planning, and delivery of their work in line within the expectations of the Wildanet, and PIA, quality standards and expectations. Main Responsibilities: Plan, execute, and report on audit schedules for internal labour and external build partners with a focus on quality in FTTP network deployment Stay up to date with contractual licence changes affecting the standard operating model Plan and deliver audits to resolve non-compliance at the earliest opportunity Mitigate and minimise risk exposure to business objectives and goals Support quality-focused objectives set by the Build Assurance Manager Coach for improvement to achieve business targets Escalation of project risks, changes, or assumptions Strengthen the business relationship with infrastructure build partners (PIA/Contract Labour) Key Activities: While duties and responsibilities will vary, they typically include: • Conduct site audits of FTTP deployment within Wildanet and PIA network infrastructure. • In-progress and retrospective auditing of build activities • Recording audit evidence and providing regular reports. • Rapid identification and resolution of quality defects • Escalation of serious impact defects, or deferrals from plan, to ensure a timely resolution to brought to pass. • Coach and support of build teams and external partners to ensure technical and contractual compliance. • Recording of as-built network alterations and escalating through expected channels. • Responding to sub-standard work cases and resolving within strict timescales. • Cross-departmental stakeholder management, ensuring best practice is shared to achieve a common goal. • Liaising with the PIA Department to update Notices of Intent and maintain licence compliance • Test, rod, and rope PIA network infrastructure • Acting as a business point of contact when on site to engage with the public, build partners, and local authorities. • Arrange and attend joint-site meetings with external stakeholders (build partners, Openreach, other suppliers – as appropriate) Essential Person Specification Knowledge: Telecommunications network knowledge – infrastructure & service delivery – inclusive of build activities (overhead and underground) Previous knowledge of network deployment on existing UK FTTP networks (Desirable) Skills/Attributes: • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written • Keen eye for detail, with developed analytical skills • Ability to prioritise workload in a changing environment • Strong administration skills • Self-starter and supportive of others • Change advocate • Excellent IT skills, particularly in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. • Strong conflict resolution skills Experience: • Network auditing experience • Coaching for improvement and working to quality standards • Experience in using various network design software packages and GIS systems. • Demonstrable initiative with regards to engineering problems of varying complexity. • Knowledge of Openreach PIA processes, procedures, and accreditation requirements (desirable) • Working within the vicinity of LV power (desirable) • Audit and quality management systems experience (desirable) • Contractual management (CEMAR) (desirable) Qualifications: • Full UK driving licence • S5 PIA Pole Surveying • S6 PIA Duct Surveying • NRSWA Unit 10 (S1) • SA001 Safety Overhead • SA002 Safety Underground • Core IT competencies (BTEC Lv. 3/ECDL or similar) (desirable) • S7 Cable and Sub-duct Installation (desirable) • Confined Spaces – Medium Risk Accreditation (desirable) • IPAF (desirable) Circumstances: Some out-of-hours/unsociable hours may be applicable.
