Job Title: Apprentice Boiler and Balance of Plant Engineer
Function: Service
Reporting to: Area Service Manager
Scope: Clarke Energy Ltd
Location: Midlands. Some UK travel required.
Job Purpose: To train to be a Field Service Engineer by completing a 4 year apprenticeship.
Majority of time spent: Undertaking tasks set by the Boiler and Balance of Plant Engineer / Area Manager and/or Field Service Engineers.
Responsibilities:
* Follow the direction of the Boilers and Balance of Plant Specialist/ Field Service Engineer to learn about the operation and maintenance of gas fuelled engine and generator sets and how to carry out pro-active and reactive maintenance to industrial, waste heat, fired and combination boilers, dehumidifiers, and other balance of plant incorporated within gas engine installations throughout the UK.
* Undertake, as directed and under supervision when necessary, the day-to-day servicing, fault finding, stripping down, and rebuilding of engines and ancillary equipment.
* Respond to call-outs for mechanical and electrical breakdowns as required under the supervision and direction of a Boiler and Balance of Plant Specialist / Field Service Engineer.
* Assist the Boiler and Balance of Plant Specialist/ Area Service Manager and Field Service Engineers to promote the professionalism of Clarke Energy by dealing with customers in a polite and friendly manner and maintaining a high level of site housekeeping and personal presentation.
* Undertake all other tasks and activities necessary to develop the on-the-job skills required of a Boiler and Balance of Plant Specialist Engineer within Clarke Energy.
* Attend College and complete all work in accordance with the course timetable to successfully complete the Apprenticeship within the 4 year framework.
* Observe and follow Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and regulations at all times.
Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:
* As required by the Apprenticeship.
* Good IT skills.

* A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A-C, to include Maths, English, and Science, or equivalent.
* Willing to travel and work unsociable hours, away from home when required.
* Interest in Engineering demonstrated through work experience and/or hobbies.
* Good IT skills.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Undertaking driving lessons.
Desirable:
* Undertaken a placement in an Engineering environment while at school.
* Full UK Driving license.
