JOB TITLE: GCP Product Site Reliability Engineer
SALARY: £68,202 - £75,780
LOCATION: Leeds, Bristol, Edinburgh, Halifax or Manchester
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: At least two days per week (or 40% of your time) at one of our offices listed above.
About this opportunity
The Cloud Platform team is on the journey to create the next generation technical platform for Lloyds Banking Group that will be at the core of one of the UK's biggest financial service transformations. We're looking for a GCP Cloud Product Service Reliability Engineer to join our Cloud SRE within the Cloud Platform.
The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to be part of an ambitious team with the purpose of driving our tech modernisation agenda and enable Lloyds Banking Group to become the biggest Fintech in the UK!
The role is delivering against SRE GCP Public Cloud technology roadmaps, collaboratively working with other engineering teams to build, release and evolve enterprise-class solutions, that are reliable and evergreen as cloud technologies continue to mature at a fast-pace. The role requires engineers to be responsible for the operations of a large set of Cloud products and services (including 24x7 coverage by participating in pager-duty/on-call rota).
Day to day you'll be involved with:
1. Hands-on engineering, maintaining our Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipeline-based product and services by responding to change, implementing enhancements & improving reliability and customer experience.
2. Observability, investigating & fixing service issues, with an engineering mindset – resolving via code changes and implementing improvements to prevent repeat issues.
3. Implementing further automation and reducing toil, by utilising existing Cloud tooling or implementing new technologies.
What you’ll need:
1. Certifications and experience working with GCP products.
2. Strong DevOps understanding, including experience of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines, such as Terraform and Jenkins, or alternatives such as Azure DevOps.
3. Ability to quickly understand, update and write code in languages such as Python, Groovy, BASH, PowerShell.
4. A strong understanding of Cloud security and networking.
5. Experience in problem-solving, able to demonstrate logical thinking and excellent troubleshooting skills.
6. Demonstrate a passion to continue to learn and develop your engineering skills.
7. Strong understanding and demonstrable use of source control practice and collaborative working as part of an engineering team.
8. Experience of developing for, or administrating Kubernetes clusters in a production environment.
9. Experience in automating/scripting to remove toil.
Any experience of these would be really useful:
1. Candidates with less direct experience in cloud engineering, who can demonstrate strong skills in other areas such as sysadmin, software engineering or other technology/engineering disciplines who also are able to quickly adapt and pick up new skills will also be considered.
