Location: Allington, ME16 0LE
Salary: £39,593 – £54,440 per annum (plus benefits)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (shift rota)

About the Role
As an EC&I Maintenance Craftsperson at FCC Environment, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our plant. You will execute corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance, working closely with the Electrical and Mechanical Team Leaders to optimise maintenance strategies and enhance plant availability. You will also contribute to the development of our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), support outage planning, and supervise subcontractors as required. In addition, you may deputise for the Electrical Team Leader when needed.
This is a full-time role (five days per week), but we are open to job-share requests to support work-life balance.
What Are We Looking For?
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. Technical Expertise – Strong background in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) maintenance, ideally within a process, power plant, or industrial environment.
2. ‘Hands-on’ Maintenance Experience – Skilled in diagnosing and repairing electrical, control, and instrumentation systems, with a focus on minimising downtime.
3. Safety-First Mindset – Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations, with experience in risk assessments, site inductions, and emergency procedures.
4. CMMS Knowledge – Experience with maintenance management systems and the ability to improve reliability through structured maintenance planning.
5. Team Player – Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, maintenance teams, and subcontractors to drive continuous improvement.
6. Flexibility & Leadership – Willingness to take on additional responsibilities, including deputising for the Electrical Team Leader when required.
7. Qualifications – Ideally, an HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical, Control, or Instrumentation Engineering (or significant relevant experience).
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Health & Safety
- Ensure all activities comply with FCC safety policies and statutory requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safe work practices.
- Induct visitors and subcontractors on safety and emergency procedures.
- Maintain and improve site housekeeping and safety standards.
- Act as an Authorised/Nominated Person when required for safe work execution.
2. Plant Development & Maintenance
- Drive a "right first time" approach in maintenance execution.
- Support equipment upgrades and replacements to improve efficiency.
- Be a key contributor in annual planned outages for plant maintenance.
- Assist in statutory inspections of plant equipment.
- Play an active role in developing and using the CMMS system, including raising purchase requisitions.
3. Teamwork & Leadership
- Work collaboratively within the team to enhance plant performance.
- Encourage employee involvement in decision-making processes.
- Supervise subcontractors and support training and mentoring initiatives.
