A well-established client for Chase & Holland is recruiting an exceptional Procurement and Supply Manager (Technical Products) based in Hull. This is a phenomenal opportunity for someone with experience in a shipping and wholesaling environment, such as with a Shipping Agent or Shipping Chandler business. Prior knowledge of this kind of operation is preferable but not essential.
This role will be responsible for overseeing the procurement, stock management, and technical sales processes to ensure the efficient supply of goods and services to marine and shipping clients. It involves leading a team, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing inventory to drive profitability. This position plays a key role in ensuring operational excellence across the company’s technical supply chain, supporting smooth internal processes and effective customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage a team of Sales Administrators, ensuring optimal team performance.
2. Prepare and manage technical quotations and orders efficiently.
3. Source and procure items from suppliers, ensuring timely delivery.
4. Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Manager to maintain sales quotations, procurement, and stock systems.
5. Ensure a quick turnaround of quotes to enhance sales and profitability.
6. Take ownership of group stock, ensuring correct stock levels and minimizing write-offs.
7. Support ships by sourcing technical supplies, parts, and engineering components.
8. Manage group purchasing to ensure product quality, pricing, margins, and profitability.
9. Develop a group database of suitable suppliers and negotiate favorable terms with new and existing suppliers.
10. Assist in developing price lists and specific customer pricing matrices/contracts.
11. Manage stock transfers efficiently and economically.
12. Oversee company-wide inventory and stock control to maintain accurate valuations, and establish proper stock control systems and routines.
13. Manage stock adjustments, ensuring Financial Controller approval is obtained.
14. Liaise with the Financial Controller to align purchasing with cash flow management, working within agreed budgets and flagging when budgets are exceeded.
15. Implement and oversee a Stock Replenishment System.
16. Lead and manage departmental personnel.
17. Coordinate weekly inventory reviews, focusing on dates, locations, slow-moving stock, and housekeeping.
18. Complete all necessary stock takes across all sites.
19. Oversee central warehouse stock and arrange replenishment for other sites as needed.
20. Manage supplier maintenance and administration, including delivery approvals and quality control.
21. Liaise with Accounts, Warehouse, Sales, and Branches to ensure smooth operations.
