An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cancer MDT Co-ordinator to join the Cancer Team at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts.
The job will be based at Clatterbridge Hospital but will involve cross site working between Clatterbridge Hospital and Arrowe Park Hospital.
The working pattern will be Tuesday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Each day will include a half hour unpaid break.
Main duties of the job
* Track patients with a suspicion of or diagnosis of cancer throughout their journey from referral to treatment
* Follow up any diagnostic testing and ensure the appropriate staffing are aware of the patient pathway
* Ensure all tracking is up to date daily and validate the patient pathway
* Add new patient referrals to the Somerset Cancer Register daily
* Work closely with information services and clinical areas to monitor cancer waiting times
* Ensure all patients are seen within the appropriate timescale in order to meet national standards by liaising with clinicians, nurses and administrative staff regarding the patient pathway
* Highlight potential breaches at weekly divisional PTL meeting
* Ensure actions from the weekly PTL meeting are completed and updated
* Ensure all casenotes and relevant paperwork are available at MDT meeting
Person Specification
Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
* Relevant NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent experience
* Excellent computer/keyboard skills e.g. ECDL or equivalent
* Three years NHS experience as a minimum
Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to prioritise and manage own workload whilst working to strict deadlines
* Ability to multitask
* Ability to deal with highly sensitive issues professionally
* Knowledge and understanding of oncology terminology
* Make data driven decisions where appropriate
* Ability to deal with sensitive information regarding terminal illness and cancer
* Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology as well as anatomy and physiology
* Knowledge and understanding of cancer waiting time targets and patient pathway management
* Ability to display attention to detail
* Display excellent communication skills with staff at all levels across the Trust
* Working knowledge of the Trust's PAS system
* Knowledge of data protection issues and Caldicott guidelines
* Good time management and organisational skills
* Ability to interpret Cancer Waiting Times: National Cancer Waiting Times Monitoring Dataset Guidance
* Ability to interpret clinical results and action/escalate/alert where appropriate
