Job summary This job is a static post and the post holder will be based at Princess Royal University Hospital Stroke Services which has 14 Hyper Acute Stroke (HASU) beds and 26 stroke rehab (SU) beds. The job holder will be responsible for the provision of Occupational Therapy services within the field of stroke and will develop links with other departments to facilitate a multidisciplinary team approach. The job holder will instruct and supervise students and junior and support staff. The post requires a flexible approach to working and requires the post holder to undertake weekend working as required. Main duties of the job To identify, prioritise, assess and manage patients presenting with neurological symptoms on the stroke unit ( HASU & ASU ) at the PRUHTo instruct, supervise and assist in the development of Band 5 Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Students and Occupational Therapy Assistants and Technicians according to their training and development needs, as identified through regular supervision and performance appraisal.To participate in the planning, evaluation and audit of practice, clinical pathways and protocols within the Stroke Occupational Therapy Service with a view to measuring efficiency and ensuring high quality standards.
