Job Description Assist the Internal Audit and Risk Manager to carry out an independent and continuous appraisal of Council systems and procedures. Plan, organise and complete audit projects in line with agreed policy and practice guidelines, working independently or in conjunction with team colleagues depending on the nature of the project. Monitor and control progress of individual projects to ensure adherence to audit plan timescales and deadlines. Monitor compliance with procedures, policies, regulations and legislation to provide assurances to management on internal controls, making recommendations as appropriate to improve processes relative to systems reviewed. The above is an indication of the duties which will normally be expected of this post. However, it is not an exhaustive list and the postholder may be required to undertake other duties which are within the scope of the post. The Individual Proven experience working in an internal auditing role within a large organisation. Familiar with the application of Public Sector Internal Audit Standards. Educated to Degree level or demonstrable experience. Ability to work effectively in an environment of change, and to meet agreed deadlines. Effective organisational, time management Confident and self-motivated, with a willingness to contribute fully to meeting the objectives of the team Excellent analytical and report writing skills. Established negotiating skills to both influence and challenge as appropriate Proficient in the use of ICT systems including word processing and spreadsheet applications Able to understand and interpret complex financial systems. Capacity to interpret and ensure application of relevant legislative requirements Ability and willingness to contribute to service development. You will be expected to travel between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van Effective team player within a small team.
