Job summary We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our project team Transforming Cancer Services Team here at Velindre Trust. As Head of Commissioning and Activation you will lead the process for Hospital activation of the new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC) Project, at strategic and operational levels. When complete, the nVCC will be a world class facility which provides specialist tertiary oncology services to patients across Southeast Wales. The post holder will act as the lead within the nVCC Programme for the Commissioning and Activation of nVCC, Deputising for Director of Service Transformation and act as Senior Leader within the nVCC Programme Management Office. You will be required to work effectively and influence at all levels of the Trust and across boundaries, including internally: Directors and Senior Managers within nVCC. Be a collaborative and supportive leader with a high level of communication and engagement skills to establish and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external partners. A key requirement will be excellent communication and engagement skills to work collaboratively with, and as required influence the external partners including the Project Consortium and the nVCC construction team. This post is Fixed Term/Secondment until 31st September 2027 due to the needs of the service. Main duties of the job The funding model (Mutual Investment Model) is a very detailed, highly complex legal agreement which outlines the contractual obligations on the Trust of which commissioning is a key part. The commissioning of nVCC comprises of 5 phases each of which will require a detailed commissioning and activation plan. Working closely with the Executive Management Team, VCC Senior Leadership Team, nVCC Programme Office, operational and clinical colleagues, the post-holder will proactively plan the sequencing of activities ensuring there is clarity of dependencies across programmes and smooth operalisation of facilities. The Head of Commissioning and Activation (nVCC) will bring together the various functions of the nVCC build programme including operational, clinical, digital and construction into one roadmap. With the Director of Transformation the post holder will ensure there is a detailed scheduling plan, a suite of resources designed to deliver high quality transition (Ready, Set, Go frameworks and transition plans), plans for operational readiness, and plans to support the change management and training of staff. The post holder will continue to ensure the stabilisation period of the new building is undertaken. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
