Venator is currently recruiting for an Assistant Country Accountant to join the Country Accounting team.
The purpose of the role is to support the delivery of financial and compliance-based accounting services to our internal customers to a high level of service whilst always seeking to minimize the cost of the service provision and to add value to the business by sound tax and VAT management.
Job responsibilities include:
1. To support the Country Accountants in delivering defined, high quality financial accounting services, to agreed performance and cost targets, on behalf of all the relevant businesses and sites in an environment that encourages continuous improvement to the underlying global processes and outcomes.
This covers two key areas:
Financial accounting and compliance
Sarbanes Oxley controls compliance
2. Support the achievement of internal and external reporting deadlines.
3. Help to ensure local and US GAAP compliance requirements meet the regulatory standards.
4. Support the coordination of all external audit activity, whether it is for the ASSC or site, for the relevant legal entities for both US and local GAAP.
5. Help to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley controls, specifically manage, and monitor the annual assessment and testing processes regarding internal controls and documentation.
6. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including the relevant site accountants, external fiscal authorities (tax / VAT), such that the overall business processes are as streamlined and effective as possible.
7. Active engagement in the drive towards and implementation of global accounting processes within the ASSC to improve service, compliance, and financial performance.
8. Participate and contribute to key continuous improvement projects within the ASSC.
9. All duties are to be always carried out in compliance with all Venator Corporate EHS, SOX and business conduct policies and guidelines.
Candidate requirements:
10. Degree qualified or equivalent experience in accounting/business (or similar).
11. Working towards professional qualification where relevant e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA (preferred)
12. Excel knowledge: Good or intermediate.
13. Demonstrable experience in an accounting/finance-based role.
14. Fluent in English (essential) and German (desirable)
15. Basic understanding of double entry accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
16. Basic understanding of payroll and VAT
