We are looking to recruit a part-time Pharmacist Teaching Fellowto work 1 day aweek (there may bethe opportunity for increased hours in future, subject to agreement by thesuccessful candidate and their manager,as the expected number of medical students increases) in theUndergraduate Medical Education Department, as a member of the teaching teamfor the University of Sunderland Medical School.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role includeplanning, delivery and support of teaching related to pharmacy for theUniversity of Sunderland medical students.
The post holder will have theopportunity to work both independently and as a part of a largerteam.Teaching opportunities are dynamic and will allow the successfulcandidate to be creative and forward thinking. The Teaching Fellow will alsoprovide appropriate specialist medicines information and guidance to theteaching team in relation to pharmaceutical matters.
This is a Band 8 appointment for pharmacistsseeking opportunities to enhance their careers. Though we would also encouragethe application of more senior pharmacists. The salary scale for this post isequivalent to Band 8 or commensurate to the grading of the post holder (maximumbanding 8a).

ThePharmacist Teaching Fellow is an essential memberof a well-established team within undergraduate Medical Education delivery. ThePharmacist Teaching Fellow will co-ordinate with the team to plan, deliver,assess and evaluate medical school education in both the classroom and clinicalenvironment for students across the five years of the MBBS programme. The postholder will be responsible for developing, organising and delivering evidencebased teaching sessions, to include practical skills sessions relevant toprescribing and administering medications. The post holder is expected tomentor medical students and provide pastoral support where needed
Working collaboratively with the Clinical Nurse Lecturers andthe Teaching Fellows, they will establish and maintain clinical standards whileensuring that the medical curriculum is being delivered successfully at STSFT.They will have expert knowledge as a clinical pharmacist and will act as bothan autonomous practitioner and a source of expertise for students and colleagueson topics such as pharmacology, prescribing and administering medications. The PharmacistTeaching Fellow will be expected to demonstrate innovative teaching andlecturing skills across a wide range of educational opportunities, includinglectures, tutorials, bedside teaching / teaching in clinical areas, mock wardand simulation sessions. The role requires the use of advanced technology withvideo and live streaming options.
