The role of an Educational Support Worker is a special one! You will be providing direct support and assistance to the students in the classroom. These students struggle with additional needs that include autism, ADHD, OCD, school avoidance, stress, and anxiety. You will provide assistance in either 1 to 1 settings or in small groups, offering interventions that will help support the children and teach them healthy ways to cope and regulate their emotions. Additionally, you will be involved in the general running of the classroom, which includes helping the class teacher with setting up lessons, preparing materials, maintaining a tidy and inviting environment, supervising students, and managing classroom behavior.
The ideal Educational Support Worker will be kind, compassionate, and passionate about helping children. You should be proactive, take initiative, and be prepared for challenges. Many of the children that attend this school have education and health care plans, so you must be able to adapt your approach to meet their needs. You must have eligibility to work in the UK, as we do not offer sponsorships, and you must have an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to obtain one.
