About the Role
The Strategy, Insights & Performance department exists as a force multiplier in PXC.
The department’s Insights function is made of multi-disciplinary Hubs which are aligned to specific business domains. As the centre for PXC’s data engineering, reporting and analytics, the Hubs work to make insights the engine of business success. They partner with senior leaders (up to the Executive Leadership Team), expert analysts (Analyst Community) and Data Authority (Quality, Governance, Architecture, etc.) to deliver value.
As part of the Hub, you will analyse complex datasets to develop, design, build and iterate reports and dashboards that provide insights. You will be accountable for developing a strong understanding of your craft and the business areas you partner with. You will be accountable for maintaining strong relationships, gathering requirements, and delivering results.
Supported by your Hub lead, you will be responsible for advocating for the power of Insights across PXC – through the Analyst Community and through your personal network.
What you will be working on
1. Manage, coach and develop insights analysts within the Hub
2. Work with Hub Manager on backlog management and workload allocation
3. Deliver work packages by gathering detailed requirements and building to specifications within the agreed timelines while maintaining strong communication throughout, whilst taking a proactive approach to predicting the data needs of the business.
4. Communicate, engage, and collaborate with the Hub stakeholders (up to senior management and external parties) to understand key business questions & initiatives so that appropriate reports and analysis can be created to effectively monitor & understand business performance.
5. Act as a sounding board and expert advisor to Hub stakeholders as they tackle day-to-day questions and support them through their use of self-serve.
6. Develop repeatable, efficient, automated, self-serve reporting outputs using supported technologies, adhering to agreed best practice and principles ensuring end user experience is slick and easy to navigate.
7. Present project overviews and reports to stakeholders, providing both business insights, technical reviews and recommendations.
8. Follow agreed process and maintain records of work for example: updating Kanban board with latest progress, calling out highlights, emerging risks and challenges.
9. Ensure the governance, security and quality of data is adhered to, following team specific and overall business data control & security policies.
10. Work as a leader within the Hub by setting the example of best practice, mentor/support more junior team members and take the lead on continuous improvement.
11. Drive continuous improvement beyond the Hub by participating in the PXC-wide Analyst Community (to help wider business through operational challenges with ad hoc and cross-functional self-serve analysis).
12. Develop and maintain working knowledge of the business’s products, systems, key processes and commercial context.
What will make you successful in your role?
1. Good analytical problem-solving, influencing, stakeholder management and communication skills (both oral and written to tell clear, actionable stories with data).
2. Strong SQL skills, PowerBI, Python. Experience with Snowflake, Azure, Databricks advantageous.
3. Good understanding of business area and its role in PXC’s success. Intellectually curious, continuously seeking to sharpen knowledge.
4. Strong operational delivery track record, comprehensive knowledge of data analysis and reporting, good awareness of data warehousing, physical and logical data modelling, statistical analysis tools.
5. Experience partnering with specific business area and background in TMT / ICT sector advantageous.
