A welcoming and supportive secondary school in Barnet is looking for a Psychology Graduate to start after February half term. As a Psychology Graduate, you will be supporting children aged 11-16 with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of students with SEN within a mainstream secondary environment. If you are proactive and empathetic, and have experience working with individuals with SEN, then this Psychology Graduate TA role could be a good fit for you. The most important thing for a Psychology Graduate TA to have is a desire to support young people.
As a Psychology Graduate TA, your focus will be on guiding and working with students who need additional help, as well as supporting the needs of the class. Your role could involve working within a specific SEN department, across multiple age groups/subject groups, or with individual students on an intervention basis. No day is the same, and the role would best suit someone who adapts easily and is proactive.
As a Psychology Graduate TA, you will be working in a supportive and nurturing secondary school, closely collaborating with both staff and students to improve learning outcomes for all. The staff are close-knit and have a mutually respectful relationship with the student body. The school is well connected by transport links, including over and underground, railway, and buses. This would be a full-time, long-term position within a warm and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, both in and out of the classroom.
* Implementing tailored learning strategies and interventions as directed by the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
* Collaborating with teachers and other support staff to ensure the individual needs of students are met effectively.
* Assisting with the planning and delivery of differentiated activities to support student progress.
* Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working in an SEN role, preferably within a school setting.
* Enhanced DBS on the update service.
* Right to work in the UK.
* Strong understanding of various Special Educational Needs and associated support strategies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents/carers.
* Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting the diverse needs of students.
