We are seeking a Receptionist to work in our friendly, busy General Practice Team, to assist with the navigation for our patients and administration duties.
This will be a part-time post with hours to be confirmed. Experience is preferred; however, full training will be given.
Applicants should be organised and able to prioritise their own workload, be a well-motivated person with a positive and flexible approach to their work, and be able to adapt to changing/challenging situations. The post involves contact with patients and their families either face-to-face or via telephone, so good communication skills are essential. The successful candidate will be required to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with patients and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times.
Hours of work: Monday - Friday between the hours of 08:00-18:30 on a rota basis.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitor to the practice.
* Deal with all general enquiries.
* Communicate test results using taught skills and ensuring accuracy.
* Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
* Receive and make telephone calls as required. Phones to be answered promptly. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
* Keep your working environment clean, tidy and free from clutter at all times.
* Ensure that you provide an efficient, professional and detailed handover to the member of staff taking over from you before you leave your duty.
* Action repeat prescription requests as per practice policy as and when required. (Electronic Prescribing is in operation at the Practice.)
* Action on a daily basis electronic workflow and ensure that tasks are kept up to date.
* Enter patient information onto the computer in a timely manner and as appropriate to ensure patient safety at all times.
* Manage patient requests for advice, home visits, and appointments as per practice policy.
* Maintenance of patient clinical records (electronic and paper) notes.
* Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as required.

We are a well-established and dynamic team comprising of 3 GPs and one non-GP Partner, Salaried GPs, ACPs, Pharmacy Technician, Physiotherapist, Practice Nurses, and Healthcare Assistant who are well supported by an experienced administrative team.
We are part of Folkestone, Hythe & Rural Primary Care Network (PCN) encompassing 7 local practices providing additional services to meet our patients' needs in a holistic manner.
Job responsibilities
As per main duties of the job noted above and the following:
* Chaperoning patients as and when required.
* Processing samples received from patients following practice protocols.
* Attending mandatory training sessions.
* Accept payment and issue receipts for relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services.
* Provide support in achieving the Practice Targets such as QOF.
* Dealing with any queries from clinicians in a timely manner.
* Attending Practice meetings and update training as requested.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£11.44 an hour, increasing to £11.72 after 6 months and completion of training.
