What You’ll do (the role)
Summary
The Strategy team plays a critical role in shaping and supporting the delivery of Lightsource bp’s ambitious strategy. As a Senior Strategy Manager, you will be a senior leader in the Department and work with the broader Strategy, FP&A and Portfolio Planning team, alongside the Structured Finance and Investment teams to progress LSbp’s Executive team’s strategic agenda.
In parallel you will work across the entire organisation, playing a critical role across a range of high-impact projects. You will have an opportunity to gain valuable insight into management and decision making in a high-growth renewable business, alongside significant exposure to senior management and bp stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Work with the wider Strategy team, to closely support the executive team (in particular the CEO and the CFO) to define and execute Lightsource bp’s strategic priorities
* Play a leading role in LSbp’s long term planning process, engaging up and down the organisation to build alignment and buy-in to the direction
* Support strategic decision-making on critical issues for LSbp by leading and coordinating company-wide initiatives and special projects (including but not limited to: new technology, market or segment evaluation)
* Support discrete M&A or transaction work with a strategic element
* Build strong relationships at all levels across Lightsource bp and invest in a network of external relationships to inform perspectives on the market
* Lead cross-functional teams to make progress on complex questions and secure buy-in to the direction of travel
* Enable a disciplined, systematic and data-led approach for strategy setting, and decision-making, to support increased focus on execution and delivery
* Prepare for Senior Management engagement, including developing clear and concise presentations; present insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders
* Guide / mentor / provide direction to other members of the Strategy team, helping enhance and develop team culture
Who we’re looking for
Knowledge
* Strong interest in the energy sector, renewables, and the energy transition (direct experience preferred)
* Strong understanding of finance and accounting concepts
* Market analysis, forecasting, financial modelling, and valuation
Qualifications
* Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. engineering, economics, sciences) demonstration of excellent analytical skills
* MBA viewed favourably (but not essential)
Experience
* Relevant seasoned professional experience
* Successful track record at in a top-tier management consulting / advisory / corporate strategy environment
* Leading projects from inception to conclusion with limited guidance, delivering solutions for complex issues
* Working closely with and communicating effectively to senior management / board level executives
* Built and run financial models to support investment decisions and strategic planning
* Preparation of storylines and presentations to a range of audiences
* Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to build trust-based relationships with stakeholders throughout the entire company
* Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
