We have an exciting opportunity for Band 5 Paediatric Staff nurses to join our supportive and motivated team of fantastic paediatric nurses in the Emergency Department.

The department is supported by designated Practice Development Nurses and a dynamic team of Clinical Practitioners who will support you in developing your knowledge and skills including PILS, NLS, EPALS, Cannulation & Phlebotomy, Plastering, Wound care and minor injuries.
We have recently opened our new urgent and emergency care treatment centre which has included a co-located Paediatric assessment unit. This is a great benefit to our children attending ED, we have a close working relationship offering enhanced support.
To provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care as required within the Emergency Departments Paediatric Service.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills both verbal and non-verbal.
- Identify the psychological, social, physical and cultural needs of children and their families and act, with guidance, to meet their needs.
- Work in partnership with patients and their carers in decision making, ensuring their views are taken into account.
- Recognise own limitations to practice guided by the NMC Code of Conduct, Scope of Professional Practice, Trust Policies and Procedures.
- Demonstrate high standards in record keeping.

- To utilise a variety of strategies to communicate effectively with the children and their family/carers, the multidisciplinary team, other departments within the Trust and pertinent agencies outside the organisation.
- Delivering the above will require a general understanding and knowledge base of children’s health needs.
- May take responsibility for a specific area of responsibility within the Emergency Department during a span of duty in the absence of more senior staff. May not require direct supervision (dependent on experience).
