The Role
This is a rarely available opportunity to join our team to help ensure the smooth running of Music and Music Technology within the Performing Arts Department. The successful applicant will have a passion for music and will support the teaching staff and learners, across approximately 14 hours per week, during term-time.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate for this key supportive role within the department. We expect high performance from all our staff and are looking for enthusiastic candidates who are passionate about music to join our friendly team. Candidates should demonstrate their ability and suitability to both the role and the culture of the College.
The Department
The Performing Arts Department is a highly successful area of the College which offers:
* A Level Dance
* A Level Music
* A Level Drama & Theatre Studies
* A Level Music Technology
* Level 2 Vocational Performing Arts
* Level 3 Vocational Performing Arts
· Auditions for the annual production begin in September, culminating in 3 nights of sell-out tickets in December each year. The most recent production was Sister Act (Dec 2024), with a rotating cast of 50 students and a live band. Student Lynette Nyathi (Delores) commented “ this production has been pure joy to perform in, with such a talented cast and musicians it has really expanded my musical theatre aspirations…” Previous productions including Legally Blonde, Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act, Cabaret and Fame.
· The College’s award-winning Woking Theatre Company was founded 22 years ago. Students audition for the Company and compete in drama festivals around the country. The Company has competed in The All-England Drama Festival and the National Drama Festival where it has won numerous awards and commendations.
· Extra-curricular activities, includes the SwitchKick Record Label, LAMDA Acting and Musical Theatre exams up to Grade 8; New Era Academy Shakespeare Certificate, Dance Technique and the Community Theatre Workshop.
· Trips: A Level Drama & Theatre Studies students recently saw War Horse, and previously Dance and Music students watched the English National Ballet’s performance of John Inger’s Carmen.
· Many of our students continue to specialised performing arts colleges such as Arts Educational, Guildford School of Acting, Leeds College of Music, Lipa, Royal Northern College of Music and Mountview.

Hours: 14 hours per week, term-time only (39 weeks per year), required across 2 or 3 days (Tue, Wed, Fri)
There may be flexibility on how the hours are worked during the working week, which can be discussed at interview. For info, the College core day is 8.30am to 4.00pm
Salary: Actual pro rata salary: £7,786 pa for 14 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks per year). FTE £23,958 per annum, inclusive of fringe allowance
