Job Summary
This post is only available to all permanent and temporary employees and agency workers currently on assignment within East Dunbartonshire Council.
Location: Langfaulds depot and various satellite depots across East Dunbartonshire.
We are looking for a committed and experienced person to join our team in the role of Squad Leader.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and leading a team of operatives in the daily delivery of frontline services such as street cleansing, grounds maintenance, cemetery operations, and graffiti removal.
Our Squad Leader will oversee the day-to-day operations of grounds maintenance within cemeteries and interments, liaising with funeral directors and families during burials.
You will report to the Team Leader and work in consultation with the shift planner to ensure the successful delivery of high standards of customer service and team performance.
You must be enthusiastic, possess good interpersonal skills, and have experience of working in an outdoor environment.
The hours of work will average 37 hours per week (summer and winter hours).

PVG / Disclosure Scotland
The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential:
Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to confirmation of employment by East Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check, which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. In specific circumstances, the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR & OD Manager.
Should an employee leave before the payment is deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles requiring a PVG/Disclosure check.
