Full time, Fixed term, Start Date: 27/01/2025, End Date: 26/01/2026 (Principal on leave and sabbatical)
Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Principal
This is a wonderful fixed term opportunity for a dynamic and innovative leader with proven education leadership skills and experience, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the school and wider community.
Ngutuawa School is uniquely located with the estuary and river at its doorstep. We are the "jewel in the crown" of the Ferrymead region in Christchurch. As a full primary school, we believe that the younger children benefit from having older children in the school to support them and to provide positive role models. The senior students benefit by being able to develop leadership skills through programmes offered at the school such as peer mediation, whanau groups, PALs, and librarians.
We are seeking a student-centred and future-focused tumuaki who has a clear commitment to inclusive and dynamic education for all ākonga. They will also need to have the skills to consolidate and build on the strengths of the school and develop new initiatives to ensure a strong culture of ongoing teaching and learning success. The ability to enhance and promote our school vision and values as well as engage and work positively alongside staff, students, Kāhui Ako and the community is essential.
The successful candidate will need to be flexible, organised and collaborative.
This position is available from the beginning of term 1, 2025.
