To provide management and scientific leadership to the Department of Medical Physics incorporating Radiotherapy Physics, the Regional Radiation Protection Service, Nuclear Medicine, Scientific Computing Services and the National Coordinating Centre for the Physics of Mammography on behalf of NHS Breast Screening Programme. To ensure that effective services are provided and to develop these services both scientifically and technically in response to changes in clinical workload and practice, equipment development and statutory requirements. To initiate and undertake research and development in the above fields commensurate with the achievement of clinical objectives. To formulate and manage significant pay budget, non-pay budget and non-commissioned income target arising from the provision of expert medical physics services to a large number of external NHS and private healthcare providers. In addition to manage associated R&D cost centre budgets and staff arising from grant income and a Medical Physics Trainee budget. To be part of the management team of the Oncology Division. To provide leadership to the Royal Surrey Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where scientific and technical matters are concerned.
