Overview of the role
As a result of growing demands for our award-winning range of combustion engines and realizing our goal “constructing our road to zero”, we are seeking a Controls & Calibration Engineer. The role will suit an individual looking for an opportunity to develop their career within a fast-paced organisation at the cutting edge of engine design and development and alternative fuel technologies working out of our multi-million pound engine research and development centre in Derbyshire.
What does this role involve day to day?
1. Engine controller integration with machine systems (after treatment, transmission, immobiliser, dashboard, telematics, FOTA, security)
2. Sensor and Actuator component calibration/engineering across engine and after treatment systems
3. Control algorithm development, requirements capture and validation (the latter on bench, HiL, Dyno and Machine platforms)
4. Calibration submission, review and database management process
5. Diagnostic fault system configuration, test and management
6. Diagnostic service tool configuration and test
7. Customer Service support including field investigation and rectification
8. Supervision of junior engineers & technicians
This will be suited to you if
1. You have a strong engineering background and a Degree/HND in Mechanical/Electronic/Systems Engineering or equivalent
2. You have experience of diesel or gasoline engine fundamentals, automotive electric/electronic systems, including experience of Tier I supplier engine / after treatment control systems, interface tools & software documentation
3. You have a firm grasp of automotive electric/electronics fundamentals including ECUs, sensors, actuators, CAN based communications (J1939 / UDS / CCP) and diagnostics.
4. You have experience in developing test procedures to facilitate the continual improvement of departmental effectiveness is desirable
