We are looking for a highly motivated climate change projects officer to work alongside other colleagues, residents, businesses and specialists who has the skills and enthusiasm to lead on climate projects.
Merton, in the heart of southwest London, has declared a climate emergency and developed a strategy towards delivering Merton's target of being a net zero carbon emissions council by – and achieving the same aim as a borough by .
The council recently invested £2million in addition to existing funding to facilitate major low-carbon transitions within Merton’s energy system and building stock, support an increase in active and electrified transportation, create a greener, circular economy, and put in place green infrastructure to help Merton adapt to the impacts of climate change.
This is an exciting, hands-on opportunity for a motivated individual looking to further their career in developing and delivering projects relating to climate change. You will work within the expanding climate change team and with our schools, buildings and energy, parks and green spaces, and transport teams, the Climate Action Group, residents, businesses, community groups and councillors.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and project delivery skills, and the ability to work on a very wide range of different projects towards delivering net zero in Merton.
