This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
About the role
In this role, you'll take the lead on driving commercial success, overseeing contract and delivery initiatives that directly support our business goals. You'll collaborate closely with stakeholders and foster strong, strategic relationships with key customers. Additionally, you'll play a vital role in maximising value by shaping and executing innovative supplier strategies, while building and nurturing impactful partnerships.
Key accountabilities include:
1. Lead the management of commercial and delivery activity within a given category, product and/or service.
2. Lead and inspire a team to drive the development, efficiency and effectiveness of individuals and the team as a whole.
3. Develop customer relationships for which the team is responsible and implement innovative strategies which meet business requirements.
4. Maximise commercial advantage by promoting cross-functional decision making and monitor compliance to category objectives.
5. Communicate scope and benefits of strategies to senior stakeholders to gain their endorsement.
6. Sponsor the delivery of all sourcing and post contract management activities.
7. Monitor and manage performance against defined measures to continuously improve.
8. Manage relationships with complex strategic suppliers.
9. Comply with company procedures to provide appropriate resources and training.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
Essential criteria
1. Strategic outlook and delivery of strategic objectives.
2. Understanding of best practice supply chain management.
3. Proven track record of benefits delivery.
4. Experience in managing end-to-end client, customer and supplier relationships.
5. Ability to lead and manage teams.
6. Advanced influencing and negotiation skills.
7. Executive level stakeholder relationship management capability.
8. Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
1. Acknowledged market, technology and category subject matter expert.
2. Proven commercial track record in capital intensive industries.
3. Participation in relevant industry bodies.
